  'ANCIENT BUDDHIST SITE OF SARNATH' 45th UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE OF INDIA.  Sarnath stupa and Ancient buddhist remains inscribed as India's 45th UNESCO world heritage site on 25 July 2026 under name of 'Ancient Budhist site of Sarnath'.  'Ancient Budhist site of Sarnath'. Located roughly 10 kilometers northeast of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Sarnath ranks among the four crucial holy sites of Buddhism, along with Lumbini, Bodh Gaya, and Kushinagar. Ancient Pali texts refer to this sanctuary as  Isipatana  (the landing place of sages) and  Mrigadava  (the deer park). It remains globally famous as the location where Siddhartha Gautama delivered his initial teaching after reaching full enlightenment.
